Luminous Starchild
Manoj Rasanayagam, also known as ‘Luminous Starchild’, is a pianist, composer and EDM producer from Croydon. They are an accomplished classical pianist and a graduate of ICMP.
During the pandemic, Manoj began to write and produce EDM/Drum & Bass music with an infusion of contemporary classical elements on GarageBand. He released his first single ‘Dreamscape’ on Soundcloud, followed by his first EP – ‘Lucid Dreaming’ in 2022. They are now working towards a full album inspired by deep sea creatures, space and video games.
In 2025 Luminous Starchild was selected by London Mozart Players to compose a piece in response to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, fusing liquid drum and bass with a live chamber orchestra. Manoj created two pieces of original composition in collaboration with Fiona Brice, which were performed live at Fairfield Halls, bringing a whole new energy to the concert hall.
Manoj is autistic and queer.
Playing the piano and producing music is central to their wellbeing. They love to share their passion with people and introduce communities to electronic classical music. Manoj aspires to be a role model for the young generation.
